  Wood Dehydration

All of our natural/solid wood items are imported from humid regions of Asia,

and arrive to the USA with about 75% or higher Relative Humidity.

A centrally heated and air conditioned home is usually about 45%R.H.

Both Old Antiques, And Newly Handmade items from Asia

hydrate and 'gather' the surrounding "higher" moisture content

which expands the wood's cells while in Asia,

causing a de-expansion of the wood cells

when placed in a drier environment or centrally heated or cooled home.

The final destination and micro climate of the item will then cause more or less dehydrating.

We at Asian Dreams Furniture know this to be science,

and although we have little control on how these factors will exactly

affect any particular item specifically,

We do know... and have Experience in the Industry to Know...

That Without our Asian Dreams evolved and developed

 acclimation process...

You WILL MOST ASSUREDLY receive a beautiful and valuable furniture item

and then watch it dilapidate

over the next 30 days in your home...

with disastrous results,

That will lessen it's BEAUTY, VALUE and WORTH.

Handmade mortise and tenon

furniture made and shipped from Asia

from the typical factory (99.99 %)

will shrink after arriving to a typical American Home...

Assuredly

Causing wood stresses, which then cause fractures, splits, cracks, warps,

and exposed slip-fitting panels. The results are a beautiful Asian Furniture item

which has become dilapidated in your home...

Now with Less Beauty, Less Art, and Less value.

(And Not what you took home 30 days ago)

It's physics and science to do so...

But not desirable from any view point.

And, certainly it is Not Character !

although unlearned viewers

may attempt to console themselves or clients with this view.

(one might think to call the beautiful grain of our Chinese Elm Wood  "character" but certainly no one would call furniture with cracked and split panels,

or a splits in legs, or a warped doors, or a beautiful hand painting with a gapping split down the middle...Character ! It's Science )

"And these are some of the things which occur in quantity if not for the Asian Dreams Acclimation Process"

The industry of hand made real wood furniture produced in Asia are all (that is 99%)

Not pre-kiln dried. Nor have they ever been for the past hundreds of years...

They didn't need to, the items stayed in the humid Asian region.

To kiln dry today in our industry mechanically raises costs...

Asian Dreams has experience;

experimenting with pre-kiln drying.

We have used desiccants in our containers...and have introduced many innovative

ideas and corrections to the way we manufacture accordingly.

Why does   Asian Dreams  Dehydrate their Fine Asian Furniture ?

It's a weird thing to most whom only know or have only experienced

what some people refer to as; 'fake furniture'

Fake furniture is defined as copies of original European, Asian,

or other world regional designs

which are made by machines (not humans)

that incorporate extremely cheap, or near value-less materials

like; particle board, (saw-dust & glue) which is then covered in paper 'simulated' to

fool the observer....But it's just paper.

This form of furniture making wasn't in existence before the 1900's

until electricity and machines arrived.

Before that time ALL Furniture was real...

All Real Wood made by hand.

(The same is true for Carpets)

Because this type of paper covered furniture

will never be the real thing...and will never be Art

However, being made with allot of glue means this type of furniture

although made with cheap materials, and made heavy by the glue...

it typically Does Not Shrink...or not very much

Or more accurately, particle board and glue furniture

 Typically, does not shrink 'appreciably'

So for most people, and most Americans who are used to this type

of particle board constructed furniture...

The idea of needing to have a "Special Dehydration Process"

before they take the Better and Best in the furniture world to their Home Interior

... is a new learning experience.

In other words, Now you're buying the Better and Best Furniture

 From Asian Dreams Furniture

(one that is Art, Handmade, Built like a fortress, lasts decades, increases in value yearly)

Why does it have this shrinkage problem ?

It Because of what we mentioned above..

It's real wood

And real wood absorbs and releases moisture

And it comes here with lots of moisture

that will come out in your drier home

with unwanted effects on the

integrity, beauty, value, and worth

The majority of moisture will be released

within the first 30 days

So, it's all critical to have it pre-dried for every home,

and dehydration is required by All

But it is even more critical if going to someplace like;

Arizona (very dry air even without A/C)

Or New York (A place with lots of heating hours that make very dry indoor air)

So we take the Acclimation and Dehydration Process (invented by us) Very Seriously.

We at Asian Dreams want you to know about all the facts !

How Does  Asian Dreams  Furniture Increase in Value?

(Hand made is Handmade, and to hand make anything the next year

or the next year, or the next; costs more because...

Labor costs more each year,

This is the fact of Life. And we all know this will continue (as it has) through-out time.

China also now has minimum wage like America,

Old Traditional Handcraft and able craftsmen are more scarce

Electricity in our own China factory goes up each year,

Shipping across the Ocean costs more each year

Local Trucking from Ports cost more yearly

And so forth...

So, when you buy our Asian Dreams Handmade Furniture

you're pegging the year that will start it's increase in replacement value

It goes the same for us at Asian Dreams..

We can't make the same item this year for the same cost as was last year

Nor can we make the same item next year for the same cost it was this year

Our Asian Dreams Furniture made cabinets

rise in value and their replacement costs from

about $100 -$150 typically each year

So Don't Wait !

Invest in your own Home Interior with Art

That 'rises in value' each year

That is "Built-Like-a-Fortress" to last decades, and longer

That is made and crafted by Hand (not machine)

That has been properly acclimated, with the proper care to keep it's Beauty and Value

That is 'Guaranteed for Life' to always look it's best !
